Gerhard Knop, one of the truly inspiring figures in the field of leadership and HR, has dedicated 2022 to the phenomenon of the “golden cage” in the workplace. It describes a situation where, amid a long-term labour shortage, companies bend over backwards to find employees and keep them. But it often happens that the more they pamper their people, the worse their productivity gets. Together, they help create that golden cage.
This certainly does not mean that the solution is to stop caring about employee satisfaction or to give up looking for a competitive edge when recruiting new people. On the contrary, in this day and age it is extremely important. But it is just as important to do it right — in a way that does not lead to building a golden cage — or to know how to leave the golden cage behind.
And exactly how to avoid repeating the mistakes that lead into the golden cage will be the topic of the June conference held by Gerhard Knop’s Leadership Synergy Community and its invited experienced speakers, including Matěj Kučera of the National Institute of Mental Health, who studies the influence of the psyche on the economy and efficiency, and strategist and coach Radek Šefčík.
